Academy Update

Update as of 16:00hrs 8th January 2012

Dear all,

Engineers have worked throughout the weekend and we are now able to heat all the buildings on site.  Obviously, we are monitoring this situation closely and we will have a final inspection at 7am in the morning but everyone must work on the basis that the school is OPEN TO ALL STAFF AND STUDENTS TOMORROW, MONDAY 9th JANUARY.

Parents and carers, the students and all staff have been fantastic in coping with the disruption.  I am particularly grateful to the staff who have been on site over the weekend working so hard to remedy the situation as quickly as possible.

Regards,

Mrs Maclean

Update as of 18:00hrs 6th January 2012

Dear all,

Upon leaving the site tonight we are still without heating.  However, engineers will work through the weekend to restore the boiler and I am still confident that we will open as normal on Monday.  If anything prevents this then we will repeat the arrangements we put in place today but this will be as a last resort.

I will continue to use the website and local radio as our main methods of communication.

Once again, I thank you for your understanding in what is a terribly frustrating situation.  I hope you all enjoy your weekend.

Regards,

Mrs Maclean

Update as of 13:00hrs 5th January 2012

Dear all,

Many thanks for your patience whilst we still continue to experience difficulties on the site.

Unfortunately, we lost power to some buildings last night and this meant that the school server was interrupted, this prevented us from using the website for communication with you.  We were able to update our page on facebook and this will be our procedure only if and when we lose the facility of the website.

It is clear that we will not be able to restore the main temporary boiler ready for operation tomorrow.  However, we do now have a temporary boiler which will service the Laxton building.

Our planned provision for tomorrow is therefore:
  • All year 10 students to attend 8.35 until 10.55 (the focus of this provision will be preparation for the English examination next week and therefore all students must attend)
  • Year 11 students (who have been contacted today) who are taking their English examination next week will also need to attend 8.35 until 10.55 (this applies to very few of you, mainly students who did not sit their English examination in June of last year)
  • Year 11 GCSE Business Studies students
  • All post-16 scheduled lessons will go ahead as normal
All students listed above need to go straight to Laxton building and you will be directed to your rooms from there.

The school will be closed tomorrow for all other students in years 7, 8, 9 and 11 as we are not able to secure heating for the rest of the site.

Should there be any change in the details I have given here then I will update this website and local radio stations.

I will be on site tomorrow to answer any queries;  we have been given assurances that we will be able to operate as normal from Monday 9th January with heating restored to all buildings.  Once again, thank you for your patience and understanding at this difficult time.

Regards,

Mrs Maclean
